Workshop Sessions
Proclaimers of the Word
What are some of the techniques one can use to become a truly good proclaimer of the Word of God? How can one perfect one's proclamation so that the Word of God shines through and not the reader? We will examine the difference between "reading" and giving witness of the Word.
The Role of the Choir
Many choirs suffer under the illusion that their principal role in the liturgy is to sing. This workshop will take the ministry of music beyond just producing music and examine their more critical role in the liturgy.
Liturgy and Social Justice
This session deals with the ultimate questions of overall liturgical effectiveness. The best way to tell if the Sunday liturgy is fulfilling its goal is to examine the way the assembly treats one another after the last hymn is sung and everyone has left the building. This workshop draws a connection between the congregation's day-to-day response to issues of hunger, racism, adn toher social concerns found in the gospels, and the experience of Church that happens from week to week.
Our Speaker

Grayson Warren Brown
Grayson Warren Brown is an internationally known liturgical composer, author, speaker and recording artist. He began his liturgical ministry in the late 1960's in a small inner-city parish in New York City where he learned early how significant an authentic, spirit-filled experience of worship can be to people in need of hope. His many years of experience working in a multicultural parish have given him a unique insight into the power that good liturgy can instill in people of all colors and backgrounds.
Grayson is extremely successful as a recording artist and author. He has published six collections of liturgical compositions, including his most recent release, Now That Morning Has Broken the Darkness, featuring the song "Shout Praise." Grayson also recently completed the revised edition, God's Liberating Justice, a classic book which examines a variety of social justice issues and provides a scriptural basis and much needed encouragement and practical advice, for building a fruitful ministry of social justice.
Grayson is now dividing his time between writing, composing and traveling the country giving workshops, speaking at conventions and conducting parish missions. His down-to-earth approach to liturgy and Scripture, coupled with his dynamic speaking style, has made him one of the most sought-after presenters in the United States today.
